Earlier this spring, DVRPC secured Economic Development District (EDD) designation from the Economic Development Administration (EDA) of the U.S. Department of Commerce. This designation means DVRPC now serves as the liaison between the EDA and our member counties and constituent communities, working to promote regional cooperation and job growth.
A new analysis examines how the COVID-19 pandemic has affected bicycle and pedestrian traffic in two areas of Philadelphia. Using data collected from the intersection of Front and Chestnut streets and the Schuylkill River Trail near the Walnut Street Bridge, the analysis compares pre-pandemic usage from March 2019 to March 2020, to usage in July 2021 to July 2022, when some residents began to resume normal activities despite COVID-19’s lingering presence.
Effective December 31, 2022, Title 9 of The Philadelphia Code will require large employers in Philadelphia to offer a mass transit program to covered employees. Commuter benefits allow employees to save by setting aside money tax-free from their paychecks every month to spend on public transportation and carpool expenses.
City officials announced today a new Vision Zero safety study along the Hunting Park Avenue corridor, between Wissahickon Avenue and Old York Road. The goal of the project, a partnership with DVRPC, is to engage with people who work, live, or go to school in the area and identify future safety improvements based on Vision Zero strategies.
