Transit Planning

DVRPC supports local transit planning efforts by collecting data, conducting studies, and identifying emerging national and international best practices.

Alternative Commutes & Travel

DVRPC's Transportation Demand Management (TDM) programs support employers, commuters, and residents to help them find the best travel options for their own needs, for employees, and for the region.

Performance-Based Planning

Federal regulations require state departments of transportation and MPOs to establish and use a performance-based approach in transportation decision-making.

Transportation Operations

DVRPC promotes operational improvements that maintain and restore the performance of existing transportation systems. DVRPC works with regional partners to promote relevant strategies and programs and helps coordinate first responders across multiple jurisdictions, agencies, and modes to improve system performance.

Freight Planning

DVRPC’s freight planning program is designed to fully incorporate freight into transportation planning processes.

Electric Vehicles

Increasing the adoption of electric vehicles (EVs) is a key strategy for improving the region’s air quality. EVs include hybrid, plug-in hybrid, electric plug-in, or extended-range electric plug-in. To help our region prepare for the growing number of EVs, DVRPC staff work with PennDOT, NJDOT, and other partners on various planning and funding initiatives.

Congestion Management

The Congestion Management Process is a requirement of the federal surface transportation legislation, which requires that alternatives to building new single-occupancy vehicle (SOV) road capacity must be explored first, and where additional capacity is found to be appropriate and necessary, multimodal supplemental strategies must be included.

DVRPC is committed to the region-wide promotion and implementation of a safe, convenient, and seamless multimodal transportation system.

Safety

DVRPC pursues an active, wide-ranging approach to improving safety for all road users. With our regional partners, DVRPC embraced a Vision Zero goal of eliminating deaths and serious injuries from crashes in the region by 2050.
