Our Work

We work with partners across the nine-county, two-state Greater Philadelphia region to improve mobility, protect and preserve natural resources, and create healthy communities. In addition to developing the long-range plan for the region and maintaining the short-term capital project list, DVRPC conducts research, develops plans, maintains and analyzes data, provides technical assistance, and acts as a resource for local governments, organizations, and people across the region.

Transportation Planning

The Long-Range Plan for Greater Philadelphia calls for a safe, modern, multimodal transportation network that works for all users. DVRPC is working toward this vision through a variety of programs and projects.

Environment

DVRPC supports a preserved and restored natural environment with thriving ecological systems.

Economic Development

DVRPC serves as the Economic Development District (EDD) for Greater Philadelphia and manages the Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy (CEDS) for an innovative and connected economy to support prosperity for all residents and businesses in the region.

Community Planning

DVRPC works with a variety of stakeholders to encourage smart growth, affordable housing, transit-oriented development, and other solutions that support healthy and walkable communities.

Long-Range Plan

Update: Connections 2050 Plan for Greater Philadelphia plans for the orderly growth and development of the region and considers future population growth, economic trends, environmental concerns, and technological advancements to guide investments in roads, public transit, biking and walking infrastructure, and other transportation modes.

Transportation Improvement Program

Required by federal law, the Transportation Improvement Program (TIP) is the regionally agreed-upon list of priority transportation projects that the region plans to carry out over a four-year period. DVRPC manages two TIPs: one for New Jersey and one for Pennsylvania.
