Connections 2050 sets a goal to integrate the infrastructure we use to move around the region into an accessible, multimodal transportation network, with transit, walking, and biking serving as fundamental components. Increasing the share of people choosing to use transit, walking, biking, and/or carpooling–as opposed to driving alone–reduces congestion, lessens roadway maintenance needs, improves air quality, and decreases the region's carbon footprint.

Based on information collected during CEDS Committee workshops in April 2023, the new EDA CEDS Guidelines, and current trends, DVRPC staff have developed Draft Goals and Actions for the FY 24 Growing Greater Philadelphia CEDS. These goals and actions will serve as the foundation of the regional economic development framework.
Connections 2050 envisions developing new and supporting existing places that are affordable and inclusive, provide multimodal and active transportation, and have safe and easy access to parks and open space. As part of this vision, the Plan sets a goal to foster racially and socioeconomically integrated neighborhoods and advance environmental justice for all the region’s inhabitants. A key strategy to reach this goal is to achieve equitable access to homeownership and the generational wealth-building associated with homeownership.
