The Pennsylvania Environmental Council (PEC) presented DVRPC with the Trailblazer Award for leadership in securing federal funding for critical Circuit Trails projects. The Circuit Trails network is Greater Philadelphia’s multi-use trail system connecting people to jobs, communities, parks, and waterways. Governments, non-profits, and foundations have collaborated to complete over 415 miles of the envisioned 800-mile regional network to date.
A ribbon cutting was held on October 11, 2024, to celebrate the opening of the Pennypack Path Connector Trail in Philadelphia. Part of the Circuit Trails network, this new segment creates a seamless connection from the Delaware River to Bucks County.
The award recognizes the next generation of professionals working to find creative solutions to improve quality of life through engineering, planning, marketing campaigns, and the development of community alternative programs that are shifting behavioral change.
These grants represent instrumental investments in the region’s multi-use trail system, the Circuit Trails. The projects will continue to expand the network and build community connections to it.
A ribbon cutting was held on July 11, 2024, to celebrate the opening of a portion of the Fox Chase Lorimer Trail in Philadelphia. Part of the Circuit Trails network, the trail provides convenient, multimodal access to the SEPTA Fox Chase Station.
