This year first responders in Greater Philadelphia have a new tool to help notify drivers of emergency vehicles, even before they are visible. Digital alerting, or Responder-to-Vehicle technology, alerts motorists of responders’ positions directly to their vehicle navigation system, increasing awareness of roadside hazards and encouraging compliance with Move Over, Slow Down laws.

The Pennsylvania Environmental Council (PEC) presented DVRPC with the Trailblazer Award for leadership in securing federal funding for critical Circuit Trails projects. The Circuit Trails network is Greater Philadelphia’s multi-use trail system connecting people to jobs, communities, parks, and waterways. Governments, non-profits, and foundations have collaborated to complete over 415 miles of the envisioned 800-mile regional network to date.

“[Leslie] is an empathetic leader who cares greatly not only for the well-being of her staff but also for all who use SEPTA. We expect the changes she has made to continue to have an impact,” said DVRPC Executive Director Ariella Maron.

The Local Technical Assistance Program (LTAP) provides technical information and expertise to help municipal governments use transportation funds more effectively, improve road maintenance, and increase roadway safety.

DVRPC is opening a 30+ day public comment period on December 5, 2024, for the Draft Fiscal Year (FY) 2026 Unified Planning Work Program. DVRPC will accept comments from December 5, 2024, until January 7, 2025, at 5:00 pm local time.

The program guidelines for the next New Jersey round of the DVRPC Transportation and Community Development Initiative (TCDI) are now available! DVRPC will open the application portal in January 2025 for eligible applicants located in DVRPC’s four New Jersey counties: Burlington, Camden, Gloucester, and Mercer.

On December 4, 2024, the DVRPC Board approved a TIP action facilitating the transfer of $153 million in federal highway capital funds to SEPTA, allowing the transit agency to meet its immediate operating needs and postpone additional fare increases and service cuts.

The Regional Safety Task Force (RSTF) was established in September 2005 to bring together a multidisciplinary group of professionals to identify safety goals, strategies, and resources to reduce crashes and eliminate serious injuries and fatalities on roadways in the Greater Philadelphia region.
