TDM Week Is September 14-18
September 14-18 is National Transportation Demand Management (TDM) Week. This year’s theme, "The Power of Transportation Options,” provides an opportunity to celebrate TDM’s positive impact on the livability of our communities and quality of life for all people. TDM Week, sponsored by the Association for Commuter Transportation (ACT), is designed to raise awareness—especially among public officials—of the importance of expanding access to all transportation options for all users when engaged in land use and transportation planning processes.
TDM strategies include encouraging regular use of transit, bicycling, and walking; supporting e-micromobility and pedestrian infrastructure; offering employee subsidies or tax-free dollars for the use of transit and vanpools; providing preferred parking for carpoolers; and promoting telecommuting and/or remote and hybrid work schedules. During TDM Week, DVRPC and our partner Transportation Management Associations (TMAs) will be promoting the many benefits of TDM in our communities—including increased efficiency within our transportation systems, increased access to jobs, reduced traffic congestion, faster movement of goods to and through our region, and improved air quality.
