AGENDA

1. Introductions

2. Approval of September Meeting Highlights

3. Route 1 Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) Progress

NJ Transit will provide a brief update of the Route 1 BRT, and a few sentences about the other BRT projects in New Jersey: New Brunswick BRT, Route 9 Bus Shoulder, Route 42/55/ACE South Jersey BRT, and the Liberty Corridor BRT/Smart Bus (Newark).

4. Route 1 Regional Growth Strategy (Rt1RGS) Recommendations & Next Steps

NJDOT will briefly update Forum participants on the recommendations of the Rt1RGS and discuss potential next steps. A summary report and model resolution of support that participants can take back to their organizations for endorsement will also be provided and discussed.

5. Proposal to Establish a Forum Restructuring Committee

There is broad agreement about current and future problems in the Route 1 corridor and of the need for comprehensive actions, though not necessarily how to do them. Similarly, there seems to be agreement that there should be regional coordination and people keep coming to the Forum, but there is a sense that it isn’t all it could be. This agenda item will explore potential next steps.

6. Transit on CR 571

An innovative coordinated approach is underway to provide better transit service on CR 571 in the short term. Coach USA cancelled the route to New York City that had provided some transit service in this corridor. The loss was critical for East Windsor residents who rely on care from the University Medical Center Clinic in Princeton. The intermunicipal agreement idea from the CR 571 package also continues to develop.
