Office of Safe Streets

Safe streets matter to everyone and DVRPC pursues an active, wide-ranging approach to improve them. The Office of Safe Streets is involved in a great many of DVRPC's efforts, from coordinating the Regional Safety Task Force and road safety audits, to safety-related assistance on key DVRPC publications like the Long-Range Plan and corridor studies. DVRPC embraces Vision Zero, a road safety framework premised on the belief that no loss of life on our regional roadway network is acceptable. Our work advances the region toward this goal and supports our planning partners' transportation safety efforts to eliminate roadway deaths and serious injuries. The links below cover recent publications by the Office of Safe Streets and provide access to additional resources.

Cecil B. Moore Vision Zero

Vision Zero is a strategy to eliminate all traffic-related deaths and severe injuries, while increasing safety, health, and mobility for all. As part of the City of Philadelphia’s Vision Zero Action Plan 2025, the City identified priority corridors and intersections for future improvement under a Vision Zero Capital Plan. Cecil B. Moore Avenue from Willington Street to 10th Street was identified as a top ten corridor.

DVRPC is analyzing crash and traffic data, engaging the community and other local stakeholders, and conducting a road safety audit of the corridor to inform the development of a conceptual plan for safety improvements on Cecil B. Moore Avenue.
