The DVRPC Board voted to award $17.5 million to 12 local projects in Pennsylvania through the Transportation Alternatives Set-Aside (TASA) Program.
At the February meeting, the DVRPC Board voted to award $17.5 million to 12 local projects in Pennsylvania through the Transportation Alternatives Set-Aside (TASA) Program. The federal program funds projects that enhance bicycle or pedestrian facilities, improve access to public transportation, create safe routes to schools, convert abandoned railway corridors to trails, construct overlooks and viewing areas, preserve and rehabilitate historic transportation facilities, manage stormwater, conduct archeological activities, and mitigate wildlife mortality.
The TASA selected projects and funding amounts are:
- Building the East Coast Greenway in Bristol Township, Bristol Township, Bucks County, $2,200,000
- Taylorsville Road and Sidewalk Drainage Project, Lower Makefield, Bucks County, $1,500,000
- Chester Valley Trail Connector via Exton Park, West Whiteland, Chester County, $1,500,000
- Downington Pedestrian Connectivity, Downington, Chester County, $1,600,000
- Myers Avenue Corridor Improvement, Swarthmore Borough, Delaware County, $1,500,000
- Octoraro Trail Phase 1A, Concord Township , Delaware County, $1,500,000
- Bridgeport Rail Trail Connector to Chester Valley, Bridgeport Borough, Montgomery County, $1,000,000
- Pennbrook Middle School to Gwyn-Nor Elementary Safe Routes to School Trail, Upper Gwynedd, Montgomery County, $1,200,000
- Tookany Creek Parkway Trail, Cheltenham Township, Montgomery County, $1,500,000
- Gay Street Staircase Rehabilitation, City of Philadelphia, $1,500,000
- Tabor Avenue, City of Philadelphia, $1,000,000
- Walnut Lane Sidewalk Gap Closure, City of Philadelphia, $1,500,000
The Board also approved the TASA subcommittee’s recommended statewide list of projects to be sent to PennDOT Central Office for consideration for funding as part of the statewide TASA selection process, which takes place this spring.
