a. Brief update on near-term sense of financial situation and on economic recovery package
b. Liberty Corridor and the Route 1 Corridor – Senator Menendez secured $88 million for improvements to the Liberty Corridor, the economically-essential corridor stretching from the New York City area through Mercer County. Liberty Corridor Board Member, Somerset County Freeholder, NJTPA Board Member, and long-time Forum participant, Peter Palmer, will present this item.
4. Route 1 Regional Growth Strategy (R1RGS) Update
The R1RGS completed its first round of sub-area workshops for the relaunch of the study, which focused on identifying a range of transportation improvement concepts. The project team is using the workshop input to formulate a desired future transportation network for the regional transportation model to evaluate it along with the conceptual land use scenario developed in the previous phase. The results of this modeling analysis will be one of the inputs into the second round of workshops that will focus on refining the regional land use vision, including results of the February 25th Economic Development Roundtable. The project team hopes to complete the second round in April 2009.

The Smart Housing Incentives Act is a legislative proposal designed to create incentives for municipalities to zone for compact housing in appropriate locations. This item will be presented by Chris Sturm, Senior Director of State Policy at NJ Future.
