How Going Green Can Improve Safety


Please join us for the next Regional Safety Task Force (RSTF) meeting, which will be devoted to the intersection of safety and environmental improvements in our roadways. Guest speakers will discuss greening projects in the region that also have a safety benefit, such as Green Stormwater Infrastructure (GSI) bumpouts and planted medians.

Cassandra Duffey, Borough of Collingswood, New Jersey

Cassandra Duffey serves as Borough Administrator in Collingswood, NJ. She has worked for the Borough in several capacities, including managing communication, constituent services, and business and community development for more than 15 years. Cassandra will be presenting on how the addition of Collingswood’s traffic island landmark has impacted their downtown and community, green space and safety implications, and perks and pitfalls of the project.

Ariel Ben-Amos, Philadelphia Water Department

Ariel Ben-Amos serves as a Partnership Specialist for the Philadelphia Water Department. He has worked with the city in several capacities for over 15 years and is also the founder of StreetBox PHL and an adjunct lecturer at University of Pennsylvania. Ariel will be presenting on Philadelphia case studies of greening projects that impacted safety.

After the presentations and Q&A, RSTF members will break into groups to discuss reactions to presentations and potential action items.

The Delaware Valley Regional Planning Commission (DVRPC) fully complies with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, the Civil Rights Restoration Act of 1987, and related nondiscrimination mandates in all programs and activities. DVRPC's website, www.dvrpc.org, may be translated into multiple languages. Publications and other public documents can be made available in alternative languages and formats, if requested. DVRPC’s public meetings are always held in ADA-accessible facilities and in transit-accessible locations whenever possible. DVRPC will work to accommodate all reasonable requests for translation, interpretation, accommodations or other auxiliary services and encourages that requests be made at least seven days prior to a public meeting.
