SS4A: Safety Funding in Action

ONLINE ONLY

Please join us for the next Regional Safety Task Force (RSTF) meeting, which will be devoted to the Safe Streets and Roads for All (SS4A) grant program. Guest speakers will discuss recent awards that will be used to create a new action plan for the region, and implementation of several important infrastructure safety projects.

The Safe Streets and Roads for All discretionary grant program is a product of the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law. The program promotes the National Roadway Safety Strategy and supports both our regional and the national Vision Zero goal of zero traffic fatalities and serious injuries.

We are pleased to welcome the following panelists to present on SS4A in the Safe System approach:

Kevin Murphy, Delaware Valley Regional Planning Commission (DVRPC)

Kevin Murphy serves as the Manager for the Office of Safe Streets at DVRPC. Kevin has been involved with improving safety on all streets throughout the region for nearly twenty five years. Kevin will present regional crash trends and DVRPC’s vision for the Regional Vision Zero 2050 Action Plan.

Kelley Yemen, Office of Transportation, Infrastructure, and Sustainability (OTIS)

Kelley Yemen serves as the Director of Complete Streets for the City of Philadelphia’s Office of Transportation, Infrastructure, and Sustainability. Kelley has fifteen years of experience focusing on multi-modal transportation and has been working with the City for six years. Kelley will present an overview of how the City is spending their $30 million implementation grant.

Alan Huff, South Jersey Transportation Planning Organization (SJTPO)

Alan Huff serves as the Program Manager for Safety Initiatives and Public Outreach at SJTPO. Alan has nine years of experience with SJTPO working with the public and focusing on bicycle and pedestrian planning. Alan will present on the City of Vineland’s experience in securing $20 million in SS4A implementation funding for Chestnut Avenue Safety Improvements and Rehabilitation.

After the presentations and Q&A, RSTF members will break into groups to discuss reactions to SS4A and how it could impact local communities.
