This report summarizes the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development's (DCED) Municipal Statistics data from five counties in southeastern Pennsylvania: Bucks County, Chester County, Delaware County, Montgomery County, and Philadelphia City (which is both a city and a county). The information in this report focuses on the Report of Elected and Appointed Officials, which contains information about municipal employment, police service, fire service, and land use and planning. This data is critical to understanding overall municipal capacity, which is necessary for implementing long term land use and transportation plans. The information in these reports is self-reported by the municipalities, who can electronically file these forms at http://munstats.pa.gov/forms/ after they have submitted an Authorization Form to DCED. The majority of the information contained in the reports is available to the public on DCED's Municipal Statistics website (http://munstats.pa.gov/public/). The data used in this report was downloaded on March 21, 2017.Correction: The employment numbers for Media Borough were listed incorrectly in the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development's Database. The number of employees should be 32, not 322. Tables 11 (Page 8), Table 15 (Page 10), Table 21 (Page 13), and Table 35 (Page 25) are affected by this change.
