This short publication by the Central Jersey Transportation Forum is a quick-reference guide for mayors, members of governing bodies, and planning boards in Central New Jersey who are looking to address development impacts in their municipality. The brochure offers a short summary of eleven Transportation Smart Growth Strategies, falling under the broader categories of Zoning Tools, Traffic Management Tools, and Policies. Under each strategy are local examples of implementation by municipalities within Mercer, Middlesex, and Somerset Counties. Also listed are additional resources for representatives and their staff to use if they wish to learn more about any particular strategy. Contact information for planning staff from each referenced municipality and transportation planning agency is listed in tabular form at the end of the document in an effort to facilitate communication between municipalities working to implement best practices in smart growth.
