2) Wissahickon Transportation Center:

McCormick Taylor and SEPTA will present the proposed plans for SEPTA’s Wissahickon Transportation Center (WTC). The proposed WTC Project includes the construction of a new transportation center immediately west of the current complex. The project will allow SEPTA to expand and significantly improve the WTC to enhance operations, safety, accessibility, and overall customer service. The existing WTC site, located at 4900 Ridge Avenue along the west bank of Wissahickon Creek, will not be altered as part of this project. The proposed WTC will be built at 5000 Ridge Avenue and will be a mixed-use waiting room building that will house a passenger waiting room and a small retail space. There will be a formal plaza around the building, a passenger waiting area with all-weather canopies to the southwest, and a separate operator’s booth and operator restrooms. The proposed WTC will provide fully accessible and ADA compliant bus boarding platforms and connections. The project will also include improvements to the roadway layout and enhanced stormwater management. Roadway widening along the north and south side of Ridge Ave will allow for a SEPTA- only turn lane, bus stops and wider sidewalks. A green roof, several rain gardens and improvements to the existing storm sewer system will help with the stormwater management for the project area.
