PRESENTATION ITEMS

8.      Preparing for the 2020 Census

Efforts leading up to the 2020 Census are in full swing. Partnership Specialists from our Regional Census Centers will provide a high-level overview of the plan for the 2020 Census and its related programs. They will also point out potentially hard-to-count areas of our region and advise you how to achieve a more accurate count in your communities.

9.      Identifying Neighborhood Greenway Possibilities in Philadelphia

This study used best practices from the National Association of City Transportation Officials, Portland State University, and Portland Bureau of Transportation to develop a two-part geographic information system methodology that identified suitable streets to build neighborhood greenways in each of Philadelphia’s 10 city council districts. Neighborhood greenways are low-volume, low-stress streets that prioritize bicycle and pedestrian travel over vehicles.

10.     Crashes and Communities of Concern

Among DVRPC’s core principles for the region are to advance equity and opportunity, and reduce the risk of death or serious injury from traffic crashes. Staff will present the results of a recent study that examined the location and incidence of crashes in the region, as related to communities with above average      rates of low-income, racial minority, ethnic minority, and disabled populations. These “communities of concern” were found to have a disproportionate number of severe crashes.

11.     One Minute Reports

RTC Members and guests will be invited to provide updates on the activities of their agencies.

12.    Old Business and New Business

13.    Meeting Adjournment

The next scheduled meeting of the RTC is Tuesday, April 9, 2019.
