2. Report on Board Activities

ACTION ITEMS

3. Transportation Improvement Program (TIP) Actions

During the course of the fiscal year, it becomes necessary for the State Departments of Transportation (DOT's) and/or transit operators to amend the TIP. Two amendments have been submitted for consideration.

a. TIP Action PA03-23a - Yardley Borough/Lower Makefield Township Bikeway
(MPMS #57324)

b. TIP Action PA03-23b - Limerick Township Bike Improvements (MPMS #57329)

c. TIP Action PA03-23c - Swamp Road Culvert at Pennswood (MPMS #64781)

d. TIP Action PA03-23d - PA 413/PA 532, Newtown Bypass (MPMS #13637)

4. 2003 Work Program Amendments - ITS on I-476 PA Turnpike/PA 309 Corridor

Montgomery County is requesting this project be added to the Work Program with a budget of $80,000 federal and $20,000 county. DVRPC would lead the project and retain an engineering firm to inventory signals and design an action plan.

5. Year 2000 Census Urban Area Boundary

The state DOTS, county, and DVRPC staff have been working on changes to the federal aid/functional class designation for road segments affected by the change in urban area boundaries from the 1990 to 2000 census data. A recommendation to the Board for approval is in order.

6. DVRPC FY2003 Work Program Amendment: Beverly/Edgewater Park Rail Station Study

The new South Jersey Light Rail Line will have a station stop at the boundary of Beverly City and Edgewater Park Township. This study will prepare a community needs assessment, market analysis, and a physical design plan for the redevelopment of the area surrounding the station. The intent of the study is to improve vehicular and pedestrian access to the station, and to encourage commercial and residential redevelopment in the area that is oriented to the new transit service.

INFORMATION ITEMS

7. Inventory of Potential Transit-Oriented Development (TOD) Sites

Staff will present an overview of Inventory of Potential TOD Sites that identify 45 transit stations in the region for further study. Topics to be discussed include study goals and approach, station selection criteria, inventory characteristics, and progress to date.

8. US Census County to County Workers Flow

Last month, the US Census Bureau released County-to-County worker flows from the Journey-to-Work information contained in the Year 2000 Census. The information contains the commutation patterns by county of residence to county of work for all counties in the nation. Information also includes those who worked at home. This data has implications for county, state, and regional planning efforts.

9. Regional Cordon Line Station Survey

Staff will present DVRPC's recently completed survey of vehicular traffic entering and leaving the region. The survey of highway routes is part of the traffic monitoring program, provides information about truck and auto travel patterns at the regional boundary such as trip origin and destination, and is useful in determining priorities in transportation infrastructure improvements.
