2. Summary of Aprils Meeting
Approval of the highlights from April 24, 2007 meeting.

PRESENTATIONS

3. Guest Speaker
Wendy Berks, Brain Injury Association of New Jersey, will provide an overview of brain injury, its causes and consequences and ways it can be prevented. Focusing on the different aspects and causes of brain injury, such as traffic related, sports injuries, falls, and acquired injuries, with a greater emphasis on traffic safety, the discussion will incorporate suggestions for reducing injuries including engineering, enforcement, education and empowerment.

4. Safe Routes to School Program
This program is federally mandated through SAFETEA-LU. Under DVRPCs program, 2 pedestrian road safety audits were successful completed in the last fiscal year. This presentation will discuss coordination and program development at the Pennsylvania, New Jersey and regional level highlighting DVRPCs role.

5. Roosevelt Boulevard Corridor Study Pedestrian Initiatives
DVRPC has collaborated with the Roosevelt Boulevard Safety Task Force to make that roadway safer for all users. A section of the roadway has been designated as a Safe Corridor. Several other initiatives are in the planning stages. Two pedestrian initiatives will be presented.

6. New Jersey Safe Passage on Our Roadways
This program is led by the New Jersey State Police and was initiated to combat fatalities through a statewide crash awareness and reduction effort. This initiative will be presented.

7. Implementing the Regional Safety Action Plan
The Regional Safety Action Plan was adopted by the DVRPC Board in May. Implementing the Plan is the logical next step. The outcome of this discussion will be to identify ways of moving forward to effectively achieve the goals as documented in the Plan.

8. Open Forum
In an effort to initiate information exchange, attendees will be offered the opportunity to highlight new and existing safety activities of their organization and in the region.

The Delaware Valley Regional Planning Commission (DVRPC) fully complies with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, the Civil Rights Restoration Act of 1987, and related nondiscrimination mandates in all programs and activities.
