Regional Safety Task Force Meeting

3. PennDOT Safety Summit Update

Ashwin Patel, PennDOT District 6, will share information from their safety summit held as part of the update of the statewide Strategic Highway Safety Plan.  District 6 used the Safety Action Plan as a starting point.

4. Panel:  Reducing Impaired and Distracted Driving Crashes

Leaders involved with reducing impaired and distracted driving will speak briefly about what their agencies are doing and lessons learned in tackling this emphasis area that are valuable throughout the Delaware Valley.  There will be plenty of time for discussion.

5.Tracking Progress on Actionable Items

To have maximum effect, the RSTF will refine the strategies in the Safety Action Plan for each emphasis area into a few tasks that many partners can help advance.  Zoe Neaderland, DVRPC, will review “Tracking How Safety is Being Improved in the Delaware Valley” and lead discussion of potential tasks to reduce impaired and distracted driving.

6.Legislative Update

Tracy Noble, Public Affairs Specialist for AAA Mid-Atlantic New Jersey and Jana Tidwell, Acting Manager for AAA Mid-Atlantic Pennsylvania and Delaware will provide a brief summary of New Jersey and Pennsylvania bills proposed to reduce impaired and distracted crashes and highlight passage of important transportation safety laws.
