3. Guest Speakers

Jerry Gluck, AECOM will provide an informative presentation on the safety benefits of access management, and the safety and other problems associated with poor access management.  Through intergovernmental cooperation, the implementation of access management will facilitate better traffic flow, improve safety, and enhance economic opportunities.  

Jim Bahn, SEPTA will provide information on the Pennsylvania Operation Lifesaver Program.  First established in 1972, this non-profit, international continuing public education program promotes to end collisions, deaths, and injuries at places where roadways cross train tracks, and on railroad rights-of-ways.  

Joe Fiocco, McMahon Associates will give a presentation on motorcycle safety.  His discussion will include information on issues commonly associated with motorcycle crashes.  He will also provide an overview of PennDOT’s Motorcycle Safety Program (MSP) and how it attempts to address those issues through operator education and training.

ADVISORY ITEMS

4. Updates
  1. Violet Marrero, Manager of Special Projects, New Jersey Division of Highway Safety will provide a legislative update from the New Jersey Teen Driver Commission Study.
  2. Items accomplished in 2008 from the Regional Safety Action Plan will be summarized by John Ward, Associate Director of Planning at DVRPC.
  3. Initial steps to update the FY07 Regional Safety Action Plan will be presented by Zoe Neaderland, Manager of Transportation Safety and Congestion Management.
OPEN FORUM
  1. Representatives from Pennsylvania and New Jersey DOTs and FHWA will provide one minute updates on recent statistics and other safety information.
  2. All other attendees will be invited to provide one-minute updates which highlight new and existing safety activities of their organization and in the region.

Title VI Statement

The Delaware Valley Regional Planning Commission (DVRPC) fully complies with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, the Civil Rights Restoration Act of 1987, and related nondiscrimination mandates in all programs and activities. DVRPC's website, www.dvrpc.org, may be translated into multiple languages. Publications and other public documents can be made available in alternative languages and formats, if requested. DVRPC’s public meetings are always held in ADA-accessible facilities and in transit-accessible locations whenever possible. DVRPC will work to accommodate all reasonable requests for translation, interpretation, accommodations or other auxiliary services and encourages that requests be made at least seven days prior to a public meeting.
