1. Call to order
All Task Force members will be recognized and the January 18, 2006 meeting notes will be offered for the committee's approval (see meeting highlights).
2. Delaware Valley Freight Corridors Study
DVRPC is leading a major study effort to develop a primary north-south freight corridor and a primary east-west freight corridor in the region. DVRPC staff will summarize initial findings for Year 2002 freight flows in the Philadelphia Consolidated Statistical Area using data made available through the FHWA's Freight Analysis Framework.
3. Delaware River Navigation Channel Deepening
William McLaughlin and David Harvey of the Philadelphia Regional Port Authority will discuss the status of the proposed deepening of the navigation channel for the Delaware River to 45 feet. This significant capital improvement is considered essential to the economy of the region and to the port's ability to accommodate increasing maritime activity.
4. South Jersey PIDN Study
Marlin Peterson of DMJM Harris will discuss the South Jersey Port Inland Distribution Network (PIDN) Study. The object of the study is to investigate the feasibility of creating a PIDN facility in South Jersey. A South Jersey PIDN facility could potentially offer benefits such as bolstering economic development initiatives and mitigating highway traffic impacts from maritime activity.
5. Diesel Particulate Matter in the Delaware Valley
Joe Minott of the Clean Air Council and Perry Pandya of EPA will discuss initiatives to lessen levels of diesel particulate matter. Among these are a Port Task Force, a Mid-Atlantic Clean Ports Workshop, and a retro-fit and upgrade of equipment used at port facilities.
6. Two-minute Reports
Task Force and Subcommittee chairs and Task Force members will provide updates on the activities of their companies and agencies.
7. Old/New Business
Old or new items of business will be considered. The next scheduled meeting of the Delaware Valley Goods Movement Task Force is July 19, 2006.
