1. Call to Order
Task Force members and friends will be welcomed and recognized. Highlights from the previous freight advisory committee meeting (i.e., the Downtown Delivery Symposium) on July 15, 2015 will be offered for approval.
2. The Role of the Shortline Freight Railroad in Economic Development
Jeffrey Sutch, President of SMS Rail Lines, will discuss his company’s role in attracting and growing industry within Gloucester County and the Delaware Valley. Rail freight service provides a cost effective transport mode to help industry stay competitive and affords stability to the regional job base. With excellent support from NJ DOT and state and local officials, SMS's mission is to continue assisting its customers to grow their business in Gloucester County and beyond.
3. South Jersey Port Corporation – Port/Rail Infrastructure Enhancements
Kevin Castagnola, Executive Director and Chief Executive Officer, will provide an overview of the South Jersey Port Corporation’s marine terminal facilities, the development of the new Paulsboro Marine Terminal, the TIGER III Rail Grant Program with Conrail, Salem County and SJPC, and the NJDOT Rail Freight Assistance Grant program for SJPC’s Broadway Terminal and the Paulsboro Marine Terminal.
4. gc2040: People, Place, Prosperity
DVRPC is currently working with Gloucester County to update its master plan. The project team recently completed an extensive public outreach campaign called “gc2040: Let’s Talk!” Input received through the survey and over 50 stakeholder meetings were the basis for the community’s new vision document gc2040: People, Place, Prosperity. Emily Costello of DVRPC will discuss the community’s vision and explain how it will guide future updates to all elements of the County’s master plan.
5. Crude Oil in the Delaware Valley
Mike Ruane of DVRPC will present an overview of the recently published commodity profile exploring Crude Oil in the Delaware Valley. This profile provides an overview of crude oil shipments in the region and provides insights to the trends and facilities for planners and the public.
6. Two-minute Reports
Task Force and Subcommittee chairs and Task Force members and friends are invited to offer updates on the activities of their companies and agencies.
7. Old or New Business/Adjournment
Old or new items of business will be considered. The proposed 2016 meeting dates of the Delaware Valley Goods Movement Task Force are: January 15, April 13, July 13, and October 12.
