1. Call to Order
Task Force members and friends will be welcomed and recognized. Highlights from the previous freight advisory committee meeting on April 16, 2014 will be offered for approval.
2. Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy—ACTION ITEM
DVRPC is currently updating the region’s Comprehensive Economic Strategy (CEDS). DVRPC’s Mary Bell will discuss the draft CEDS to be released for a 30-day public comment period in mid-August, with the final version due to the U.S. Economic Development Administration by September 30, 2014. (See Action Item 2015-01.)
3. Darby Borough Grade Crossing Study
Mike Ruane of DVRPC will present an overview of a two phase study focusing on two highway-railroad grade crossings in Darby Borough, Delaware County. The study explores implementation strategies that serve to improve safety and efficiency of all modes of transportation at the crossing.
4. PA on Track
PennDOT and its consultant will present an update on the Statewide Long Range Transportation Plan and Comprehensive Freight Movement Plan now under development. The focus of the presentation will be on a series of freight movement strategies identified during stakeholder outreach and currently being vetted for inclusion in the plan.
5. Montco 2040: A Shared Vision
The update of the Montgomery County comprehensive plan is designed around three themes: Connected Communities, A Vibrant Economy, and Sustainable Places. Brian O’Leary of the Montgomery County Planning Commission will provide an update on the comprehensive plan, with an emphasis on efforts to improve freight movement in the county.
6. Lansdale, PA and the Delaware Valley…Geographically Gifted!
Lansdale, PA and the Delaware Valley sit at the center of the Northeast U.S. Megalopolis where more than 50 million people live. Paul Delp, President of Lansdale Warehouse, will discuss the Delaware Valley’s competitive advantage and the integral role of warehousing in supporting varied supply chains and customers’ business objectives.
7. Two-minute Reports
Task Force and Subcommittee chairs and Task Force members and friends are invited to offer updates on the activities of their companies and agencies.
8. Old or New Business/Adjournment
Old or new items of business will be considered. The remaining 2014 meeting date of the Delaware Valley Goods Movement Task Force is: October 15.
