1. Call to Order

Task Force members and friends will be welcomed and recognized. Highlights from the previous freight advisory committee meeting on January 17, 2014 will be offered for approval.

2. Crude Oil by Rail in the Delaware Valley

Jeff Moore of Region 2 of the Federal Railroad Administration will touch upon crude oil transportation in North America and Delaware Valley refineries and bulk transfer facilities. The presentation will highlight railroad tank car information and manufacturing and also discuss crude oil safety measures and precautions in place.

3. Panama Canal Expansion Program

The Panama Canal Expansion Program will permit more and larger ships to transit the canal and open up the shipping route to East Coast and Gulf Coast ports. Robert Bright, President of Talson Solutions, LLC, and Professor Frank Falcone of Villanova University will describe their own, first-hand professional involvement with this project.

4. StrongPorts Program

The Maritime Administration's StrongPorts Program is a new initiative that is seeking to assist the maritime community with planning and executing landside port projects, and to help integrate ports into transportation plans at the state and regional level. MARAD’s Stephen Shafer will present on this and other new initiatives.

5. Freight Planning for Rhode Island

The State of Rhode Island is expanding its freight planning and programs and developing a Statewide Freight and Goods Movement Plan in collaboration with public and private stakeholders. Linsey Callaghan and Chris Witt of the Rhode Island Statewide Planning Program will provide an overview of the state's freight infrastructure and activities.

6. New Port of Philadelphia Overview Video

Dominic O’Brien of the Philadelphia Regional Port Authority will show a new video about the Port, and discuss the Port’s record breaking cargo growth in 2013. The video includes a virtual tour of the new Southport complex, which will involve a container terminal, bulk cargo facilities, and an area available for distribution and/or manufacturing.

7. Two-minute Reports

Task Force and Subcommittee chairs and Task Force members and friends are invited to offer updates on the activities of their companies and agencies.

8. Old or New Business/Adjournment

Old or new items of business will be considered. The remaining 2014 meeting dates of the Delaware Valley Goods Movement Task Force are: July 16 and October 15.
