1. Call to Order

Task Force members and friends will be welcomed and recognized. Highlights from the previous freight advisory committee meeting on July 17, 2013 will be offered for approval.

2. I-95 in Philadelphia: ACTION ITEM

Several improvements to rebuild I-95 are under design and/or construction between Cottman Avenue and Girard Avenue Interchanges in Philadelphia. An overview of these improvements will be provided by Elaine Elbich, PE, PennDOT District 6-0 Portfolio Manager. (See the corresponding committee Action Item: 2014-02.)

3. DELMARVA Freight Study

The Delmarva Freight Study is a multi-state, multi-MPO effort to develop a comprehensive evaluation of the freight transportation system and its operations along the Delmarva Peninsula. Dan Blevins of the Wilmington Area Planning Council (WILMAPCO) will describe how the study uses detailed commodity flow data and how it will test the impacts of decisions such as infrastructure investments, changes in regulations, and modal shift impacts.

4. Braskem America

Braskem America, operates a petrochemical plant in Marcus Hook, PA, that produces polypropylene and propane. Facility Manager Jeremy Glisson will provide a plant overview of the Marcus Hook operation highlighting changes that have occurred since June 2012 when Braskem acquired assets from Sunoco’s Marcus Hook Refinery that were necessary to continue operating its polypropylene facility.

5. DVRPC Reports on Immigration

DVRPC staff will discuss the findings of the Commission’s recent data reports on the foreign-born population in Greater Philadelphia, which has grown and changed rapidly since 1990. Greater Philadelphia's population is becoming more diverse. Immigration has helped many communities in the region replenish population losses, and has and will continue to impact local and regional economies.

6. Two-minute Reports

Task Force and Subcommittee chairs and Task Force members and friends are invited to offer updates on the activities of their companies and agencies.

7. Old or New Business/Adjournment

Old or new items of business will be considered. The proposed 2014 meeting dates of the Delaware Valley Goods Movement Task Force are: January 17, April 16, July 16, and October 15.
