1. Call to Order
Task Force members and friends will be welcomed and recognized. Highlights from the previous freight advisory committee meeting on April 16, 2013 will be offered for approval.
2. DVRPC’s FY2014 Transportation Improvement Program (TIP) for New Jersey Update
DVRPC’s Kwan Hui will provide an overview of the TIP process, highlights of the Draft DVRPC FY2014 TIP for New Jersey, and discuss how the TIP incorporates freight. DVRPC’s TIP update for New Jersey for FY2014 will be presented to the DVRPC Board for adoption on July 25, 2013.
3. The Lower Schuylkill Master Plan
Kate McNamara, PIDC Senior Real Estate Manager, will discuss a comprehensive blueprint for revitalization of a 3,700 acre industrial area along the Lower Schuylkill. The plan envisions an integrated network of three business campuses, featuring superior riverfront locations, integrated greenspace and innovative stormwater management.
4. NuStar Asphalt
NuStar Asphalt LLC, operates a refinery in Paulsboro, NJ, that produces asphalt and intermediate products and has a distribution network of 21 leased terminals, primarily on the East Coast. Refining Operations Superintendent Jerome Jackson and Shift Supervisor Bob Uhl will provide a logistics overview of the Paulsboro refinery.
5. Freight “From the Sea”
Dr. James J. Corbett of the University of Delaware conducts research on the environmental impacts of freight transportation and technological and policy strategies for improving goods movement. Dr. Corbett will discuss how the maritime side may affect freight agility, and complement the rail and road pictures in the region.
6. Serving Those Who Serve Us: The Seamen’s Church Institute’s (SCI’s) 170 Year Mission
Almost 1,500 ships and 30,000 seafarers come into the port every year, and the chaplains and visitors of SCI went on board more than 90% of those ships last year to provide hospitality to the seafarers. SCI’s Executive Director, Dr. Peter Stube, will introduce the shape of SCI’s mission today, a more mobile and agile mission than in times past.
7. Two-minute Reports
Task Force and Subcommittee chairs and Task Force members and friends are invited to offer updates on the activities of their companies and agencies.
8. Old or New Business/Adjournment
Old or new items of business will be considered. The final 2013 meeting date of the Delaware Valley Goods Movement Task Force is October 16.
