1. Call to Order
Task Force members and friends will be welcomed and recognized. Highlights from the previous freight advisory committee meeting on January 16, 2013 will be offered for approval.
2. Philadelphia Energy Solutions
Steve Herzog, Senior Vice President of Strategic Planning, will provide a brief history and discuss the future plans for Philadelphia Energy Solutions (PES). Headquartered in Philadelphia, PES is a leading manufacturer of petroleum and petrochemical products. PES owns and operates two domestic refineries, Girard Point and Point Breeze, and is the largest oil refiner on the Eastern seaboard.
3. Improving the Efficiency of Urban Freight
Dr. José Holguín-Veras of Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute serves as the Principal Investigator for TRB National Cooperative Freight Research Program 38: Improving Freight System Performance in Metropolitan Areas. Dr. Holguín-Veras will discuss this project and efforts to develop a regional public planning guide that identifies potential strategies and practical solutions for public and private stakeholders to improve freight movement system performance in diverse metropolitan areas.
4. Pennsylvania Comprehensive Freight Movement Plan
In conjunction with updating the statewide Long Range Transportation Plan, Pennsylvania is preparing an integrated Comprehensive Freight Movement Plan (the first of its kind). Ms. Suzann Rhodes, FAICP, of CDM Smith, will provide background, an overview, goals and objectives, and a timetable for the project. As part of the project’s extensive outreach activities, the Goods Movement Task Force members will be asked to provide their input (see Draft Goals and Objectives and Freight Stakeholder Comment Form).
5. Two-minute Reports
Task Force and Subcommittee chairs and Task Force members and friends are invited to offer updates on the activities of their companies and agencies.
6. Old or New Business/Adjournment
Old or new items of business will be considered. The remaining 2013 meeting dates of the Delaware Valley Goods Movement Task Force are: July 17 and October 16.
