2. DVRPC’s Implementing Connections: The Benefits for Greater Philadelphia—Action Item

The report, Implementing Connections: The Benefits for Greater Philadelphia, illustrates and quantifies the benefits of implementing the policies and goals defined in the DVRPC Connections long range plan. The report compares an implemented “Plan scenario” with the continuation of a business-as-usual “Trend scenario” and current (2010) conditions. Following the presentation by Brett Fusco, Senior Transportation Planner, endorsement of the report findings and tenets by the Goods Movement Task Force will be sought.

3. Construction Project Overview—I-95/Scudder Falls Bridge Improvement Project

Kevin Skeels, Senior Program Area Manager for the Delaware River Joint Toll Bridge Commission, will discuss planned bridge replacement and roadway improvements in Lower Makefield Township, Bucks County PA and Ewing Township, Mercer County, NJ. The proposed projects are critical to modernizing transportation facilities and sustaining freight activity and economic growth in the region.

4. Industrial Market and Land Use Strategy for the City of Philadelphia

The efforts to update both the city's zoning code and comprehensive plan have created an opportunity to provide policy direction for industrial land use in Philadelphia. As described by Tom Dalfo, Vice President of the Philadelphia Industrial Development Corporation, this unique effort has been undertaken with the goals of expanding and retaining the right industries in the city, protecting employment opportunities, and rationalizing the city’s supply of industrially-zoned land.

5. Developments in Urban Freight Planning

This presentation, by Joseph Bryan who leads the Halcrow freight and logistics practice in North America, will survey a number of developments in metropolitan freight planning, drawing on recent research and examples from practice. Topics will include supply chain systems, network management, site selection, sustainability, and public organization.

6. Two-minute Reports
