Task Force members and friends will be welcomed and recognized. Highlights from the previous freight advisory committee meeting on April 14, 2010 will be offered for approval.
2. South Jersey Freight Transportation Plan
NJDOT will present its recommendations for improvement of the South Jersey Freight Transportation system. This is the culmination of a year of effort and includes considerable input from stakeholders in the DVRPC region. The plan is due to be finished by August. The presentation will be made by Scott Douglas, Office of Maritime Resources.
3. Construction Project Overview
Lester Toaso, District Executive for PennDOT Transportation Engineering District 6-0, will speak to major transportation projects and needs in southeastern Pennsylvania. These infrastructure projects are critical to modernizing transportation facilities and sustaining freight activity and economic growth in the region.
4. Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst: Today and Tomorrow
Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst is a tri-service, 42,000 acre military installation located in Burlington County, New Jersey. Richard Dean, Community Planner, will describe where the original three bases came from, what occurred to create the Joint Base in 2009, and where the new facility may be headed in the future.
5. Passenger and Freight Rail: Together We Stand!
This presentation will discuss how freight and passenger railroads are working together - in the Delaware Valley and across the nation - to expand infrastructure, improve operational efficiency, and increase rail transport. Jim Blair, Senior Director, Host Railroads, for the National Railroad Passenger Corporation (Amtrak) will present.
6. Innovative Approaches to Enhancing Urban Goods Movement
Eulois Cleckley of the District Department of Transportation will present information on Washington D.C.’s new Motor Carrier Division. The discussion will provide an overview of freight policies in the District of Columbia. In addition, Mr. Cleckley will discuss the city’s new commercial curbside management program and provide an update on other initiatives being deployed to enhance freight operations in the District.
7. Two-minute Reports
Task Force and Subcommittee chairs and Task Force members and friends will provide updates on the activities of their companies and agencies.
8. Old or New Business/Adjournment
Old or new items of business will be considered. The next scheduled meeting of the Delaware Valley Goods Movement Task Force is October 13, 2010.
