D2407 | Quaker Bridge Road Bridge over AMTRAK (Mercer County)

The purpose of this project is to study alternatives to address safety and operational deficiencies at the structure and select intersection locations, including Quaker Bridge Road and Lawrence Station Road; and Quaker Bridge Road and Village Road West. The Quaker Bridge Road Bridge superstructure is rated a 4, placing it in ‘Poor’ condition and classifying it as “structurally deficient.” The deteriorating condition of the bridge increases the likelihood of an incident in which concrete could impact the rail facilities operating below the structure, which includes Amtrak’s Northeast Corridor Line (NEC), where Acela trains reach speeds up to 160 miles per hour. Rehab or replacement of this structure is necessary to maintaining the operations and safety of the NEC rail network, in addition to the bridge itself.
