DVRPC joins economic and workforce development organizations to support the launch of the Greater Philadelphia Growth Partnership, a collaborative effort to grow quality jobs and strengthen economic competitiveness in southeastern Pennsylvania.

Regional leaders recently celebrated the launch of the Greater Philadelphia Growth Partnership, a landmark initiative to grow quality jobs and strengthen economic competitiveness in southeastern Pennsylvania. DVRPC joins The Chamber of Commerce for Greater Philadelphia and economic and workforce development organizations across southeastern Pennsylvania involved in the Partnership. The Partnership was established alongside the release of a regional growth strategy led by the The Pew Charitable Trusts and the Brookings Institution and developed by leaders from all five southeastern Pennsylvania counties—Bucks, Chester, Delaware, Montgomery, and Philadelphia.

This new business-led, cross-sector entity was created to drive more robust economic growth and expand opportunity for regional residents. The Partnership will address two core challenges facing the region: sluggish job growth and declining economic mobility. Initial efforts will focus on expanding the region’s capacity to execute core economic development functions like business expansion and attraction; regional marketing, research, and international engagement; focusing shared action around cluster-building in high-opportunity industries; and connecting talent to employer demand.

Corporate and philanthropic investors have contributed $5.4 million in seed funds for the Partnership’s first three years to build durable collaborative infrastructure for regional growth.

“The Greater Philadelphia Growth Partnership will be pivotal in furthering our shared regional vision for an innovative and connected economy with opportunity and shared prosperity,” said Ariella Maron, DVRPC’s executive director. “This exemplifies what is possible when we take a regional approach: shared priorities, collective action, and better results.”

The Partnership and the growth strategy focus on increasing the supply of quality jobs that offer family-sustaining wages and career pathways, and on aligning employer needs with educational and workforce systems. By scaling up job creation and improving access, the Partnership will ensure that economic growth translates into real opportunity and upward mobility for more residents.
