The in-person workshop explored strategies for improving street safety and advancing Vision Zero efforts across the Greater Philadelphia region.
On April 22, 2025, DVRPC’s Public Participation Task Force (PPTF) held an in-person meeting in partnership with the City of Philadelphia’s Office of Transportation and Infrastructure Systems (OTIS) to support the development of the City’s Vision Zero Action Plan 2030. The event provided an opportunity for attendees to learn about local and regional traffic safety strategies and to participate in interactive conversations on how to eliminate traffic-related deaths and serious injuries.
The meeting featured presentations on DVRPC’s Regional Vision Zero (RVZ) initiatives, including an overview of the interactive Regional Vision Zero Traffic Safety Concerns map that allows the public to identify areas of traffic safety concern. OTIS staff provided an overview of the Philadelphia Vision Zero Action Plan’s philosophy and explained how the City uses the Safe Systems Approach to address safety through design, education, and enforcement.
The meeting concluded with a facilitated roundtable activity for attendees to discuss common traffic safety concerns in their communities, share ideas, and provide input that will inform the City’s Vision Zero Action Plan.
The Public Participation Task Force would like to thank our presenters for participating in this community-centered discussion: Kevin Murphy, Senior Manager, DVRPC Office of Safe Streets; Virginia Lynn, Senior Vision Zero Coordinator, OTIS; and Marco Gorini, Vision Zero Program Manager, OTIS.
