Earlier this month, Philadelphia’s Indego bike share program celebrated its tenth anniversary of providing a convenient, healthy, and fun way to navigate the city. The program is a collaborative initiative between the City, Bicycle Transit Systems, and Independence Blue Cross.

Indego launched on April 23, 2015, with 60 stations and 600 bikes. There are now more than 250 stations and more than 2,200 bikes in circulation. Over the past decade, more than 500,000 riders have embraced Indego as an easy, affordable, and active way to traverse the city.

At a glance, the program has seen:

  • 8,182,705 rides taken
  • 20,115,416 miles travelled
  • 804,616,636 calories burned
  • 19,109,645 pounds of CO2 reduced
  • 2,045,676 car trips replaced

Indego ridership has increased steadily year-over-year since 2020, with total annual rides in 2023 eclipsing one million for the first time in the program’s history. This feat was exceeded in 2024 with a record 1.3 million rides.
