Sustainable Energy Intern

The summer intern will work on a variety of tasks in the Office of Sustainable Energy, including research, data collection, stakeholder and public engagement, and communication of findings to a wide audience (municipal staff, DVRPC staff, etc.). The Sustainable Energy program area has various energy programs all with unique timelines so the intern would have the opportunity to work on (or
be exposed to) programs at different stages of implementation. Projects may include: The Regional Clean Energy Activation Hub, the Sustainable Energy Partnership of southeast PA, the Regional
Climate Action Plan, and the Regional Benchmarking Program.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares written summaries of analysis and research for use at meetings, in reports and outreach materials, and/or program development.
  • Data collection and analysis on housing stock and energy use.
  • Support outreach and communications (compile mailing lists, drafting emails, supporting engagement).
  • Actively participates in project meetings and plan development.

Qualifications

  • Interest and background or training in sustainable energy and/or climate change issues.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Able to perform independent research and gather data from objective/reliable sources.
  • Strong quantitative skills.
  • Ability to work independently and highly motivated.
  • Ability to prioritize work and multi-task.
  • Proficiency in Google Suite is required.

Availability

This is a hybrid position which requires a commitment of up to 37.5 hours per week.

Compensation

Salary is commensurate with education and experience. Students with Work-Study funding are encouraged to apply.

Minimum Education and Training

Must have completed at least THREE YEARS of a college/university program or be enrolled in a master's, or an equivalent combination of experience and training, plus substantial experience, interest, or involvement in planning.
