7. Updates to the Federal Functional Classification of Roads in New Jersey

Background/Analysis/Issues:

Every ten years, upon the release of updated Census Data, the Delaware Valley Regional Planning Commission (DVRPC) meets with the planning agencies from the counties and the State Departments of Transportation to update the FHWA Adjusted Urban Area Boundaries and the Federal Functional Classification of roadways in the DVRPC region. Today’s presentation proposes an additional 14 Federal Functional Class changes to roads in Burlington, Camden, Gloucester, and Mercer counties. The New Jersey attachment also reflects proposed recommendations that were not accepted, for informational purposes only. Updates to the federal functional classification of roadways in Pennsylvania are being finalized and will be brought to the Board at a future meeting.

Regional Technical Committee (RTC): Recommends Approval.

DVRPC Staff: Recommends Approval.

Action Proposed:

The Board approves these 14 Functional Classification changes for New Jersey roads.
