Background/Analysis/Issues
The Regional Trails Program is a competitive grant program that provides funding for the planning, design, and construction of segments of the Circuit Trails, Greater Philadelphia’s multi-use trail network, and adjoining infrastructure, such as trailheads and neighborhood connections. The Regional Trails Program advances the goals of the region’s long-range plan, Update: Connections 2050, and its vision of a safe, modern, multimodal transportation network for all.
Phase 11 of the program opened in early 2026. Applications were due in April, and the selection committee, composed of representatives from state, county, and city agencies as well as the Circuit Trails Coalition, reviewed the projects for eligibility, overall project quality, readiness, applicant capacity, regional significance, community impact, and catalytic potential. On May 7, the selection committee met and prioritized seventeen projects, representing an overall award amount of $4.55 million, for funding. The recommended project list is attached.
