#TrackingTuesday: Pavement Conditions
Connections 2050 sets a goal to rebuild and modernize the region’s transportation assets in order to achieve and maintain a state-of-good repair. This is tough work for our state departments of transportation, as our aging infrastructure creates competing needs for maintenance funding.
For 2022, our Pavement Conditions Indicator shows that 29.5% of the region’s pavement was in poor condition. This is slightly below levels seen in 2010 (30.2%), but significantly lower than the peak in 2014 (40%). However, the pace of improvement differs from state-to-state. See the breakdown by state subregion in our analysis under the “How are we doing?” tab in the Pavement Conditions Indicator.
