D2204 | Erial Rd and College Drive Intersection (Gloucester Township, Camden County)

This project consists of improvements to the intersection to reduce the high crash rate at the signalized intersection and allow it to operate in a safe, usable manner for all modes of transportation, including pedestrian and non-motorized modes, by improving traffic flow through the area. The intersection improvements consist of widening the intersection approaches in order to provide additional lanes for turning movements and through traffic. An additional dedicated left turn lane will be provided for both the NW bound and NE bound approaches. Additionally, the intersection with be improved with better striping and pavement markings to properly channelize and guide motorists through the intersection. Further, a multi-use path for pedestrians and bicyclists will be provided along the northern side of the intersection and its approaches to advance Camden County’s multimodal transportation initiatives. The analysis completed as part of the LCD shows that these improvements will hopefully reduce the significant number of crashes that occur at this intersection as well as reduce congestion by improving Level-of-Service and reducing delays.
