Delaware Valley Good Movement Task Force Synopsis
Purpose
Maximize the Delaware Valley's position in the global economy by promoting
local freight operations and implementing a regional goods movement
strategy.
Focus
The movement of freight and the region’s freight transportation
network comprised of highways, railroads, ports, airports, and intermodal
facilities.
Objectives

Insure the participation of the freight industry in the planning
process.

Identify improvements to facilitate the safe and efficient movement
of freight.

Implement regional congestion and intermodal management programs.

Improve communications, and data and technology sharing.
Results
Technical studies, capital improvements to transportation facilities,
and greater considerations of freight movement in short and long-range
plans.
Area
The Philadelphia, Trenton, Camden, and Chester metropolitan region
consisting of 5.4 million residents and 2.8 million jobs and including
Bucks, Chester, Delaware, Montgomery and Philadelphia counties in
Pennsylvania and Burlington, Camden, Gloucester, and Mercer counties
in New Jersey.
Meetings
Meetings of the full Goods Movement Task Force are conducted on a
quarterly basis. Subcommittee meetings are held as warranted.
Membership
Open to all freight interests such as shippers and receivers, Class
I and short-line railroads, port operators and agencies, trucking
firms and associations, air cargo carriers, third party logistics
companies, industrial development organizations, state departments
of transportation, and federal and county agencies.
