Freight Excerpts from the 2030 Long Range Plan

DVRPC's overarching 2030 Long Range Plan contains a complementary freight module for the first time. Emphasis is placed on designating a north-south freight corridor and an east-west freight corridor to facilitate the flow of freight, accommodate projected growth, and minimize adverse impacts on local communities.

Meeting the challenge of future freight activity is complicated by the rapidly changing face of the freight transportation landscape. Mega-ships, doublestack and heavier rail cars, the containerization of cargo, time definite shipments, and e-commerce are profoundly affecting logistics systems and transportation choices.

Vision, Policies, and Strategies
A freight vision supported by policies and strategies offers a blue print for the region and a framework for local governments.
