Airport Economic Impact

The Economic Impact of Aviation in Pennsylvania
Economic Impact of New Jersey's General Aviation Airports

Two studies have been conducted independently through consultants for New Jersey and Pennsylvania. The Pennsylvania report was managed directly by the Bureau of Aviation and the New Jersey report was designed and managed by the Delaware Valley Regional Planning Commission.

A healthy and efficient system of airports is important to the economies of the nation, the region, the states, and local municipalities. Through the various airports employees, tenants, and the visitors they bring to New Jersey and Pennsylvania, the airport systems are major economic contributors to both States. Besides the airports direct economic impact, many other non-aviation employers rely directly or indirectly on the airport systems to support their daily business activities and in return contribute by building the states economies. To more fully understand the relationships between airports and the statewide economy, these economic impact analyses were conducted.

The Studies provide primary economic impact data for general aviation and business airports in New Jersey, as well as for commercial airports in Pennsylvania. Data is based on interviews with airport operators, tenants, itinerant users and corporate clients.

The Technical reports of Economic Impact of Aviation in Pennsylvania and General Aviation in New Jersey are also supported by an Airport Properties Directory. Both documents are available through the Pennsylvania and New Jersey Departments of Transportation respectively.
