Celebrating Regional Excellence at DVRPC's 6th Annual Dinner On June 5, 2007, over 300 DVRPC Board Members, staff, distinguished leaders and guests gathered at the Four Seasons Hotel in Philadelphia to celebrate the extraordinary regional contributions to the region of our six honorees. Other highlights of the evening included the announcement of community revitalization grant awards & the recipient of the John J. Coscia Scholarship. This year's awardees were: Regional Transportation Program of the Year: Pennsylvania Transportation Funding & Reform Commission, accepted by the Honorable Allen D. Biehler, Secretary, Pennsylvania Department of Transportation Regional Environmental Program of the Year: Philadelphia Green Program of the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society, accepted by J. Blaine Bonham, Jr., Executive Vice President Regional Business of the Year: Comcast Corporation, accepted by Karen Dougherty Buchholz, Vice President of Administration Regional Leader of the Year: Carl E. Dranoff, Founder & CEO, Dranoff Properties Pennsylvania Project of the Year: Harrah's Chester Casino & the City of Chester, accepted by Vince Donlevie, Senior Vice President & General Manager, Harrah's Chester Casino & Racetrack; & the Honorable Wendell N. Butler, Mayor, City of Chester New Jersey Project of the Year: RiverWinds & West Deptford Township, accepted by the Honorable Anna Docimo, Mayor, West Deptford Township; the Honorable Len E. Daws, Deputy Mayor, West Deptford Township; & Charles E. Marr, Esq., Namwest LLC Celebrating Excellence! DVRPC Executive Director, Barry Seymour, served as emcee for the evening's events. Assisting Mr. Seymour in presenting the awards were: Joanne R. Denworth, DVRPC Board Chair and Representative from the Pennsylvania Governor's Policy Office; Carol Aichele, DVRPC Board Treasurer and Chairman, Chester County Commissioners; David Mandelbaum, Esq., DVRPC Board member and Pennsylvania Governor's Appointee; Louis Capelli, Jr., Esq., DVRPC Board member and Camden County Freeholder Director; Linda A. Cartisano, Esq., DVRPC Board member and Vice Chairman, Delaware County Council; and Charles E. Romick, DVRPC Board Secretary and Gloucester County Planning Department Director.
DVRPC Grants $3 Million for Revitalization Projects DVRPC announced the recipients of the Transportation and Community Development Initiative (TCDI) grants at the June 5 Celebration of Regional Excellence. Forty-three projects in neighborhoods, municipalities, and counties throughout the Delaware Valley received funds.The TCDI grant program assists in reversing the trends of disinvestment and decline in many of the region's core cities and first generation suburbs by supporting local planning projects that will lead to more residential, employment or retail opportunities; by improving the overall character and quality of life within these communities to retain business and residents; by enhancing and using the existing transportation network; and by reducing congestion and improving the transportation system's efficiency. 2007 TCDI Projects New Jersey Burlington County Camden County
