CELEBRATING REGIONAL EXCELLENCE AT DVRPC'S THIRD ANNUAL DINNER

On May 19, 2004, over 350 DVRPC Board Members, staff, distinguished leaders and guests gathered at the Four Seasons in Philadelphia to commemorate DVRPC's third Annual Celebration of Regional Excellence. Eight honorees were recognized for their outstanding contributions to the betterment of the Delaware Valley.

THIS YEAR'S AWARDEES WERE:

  • Regional Transportation Project of the Year
    US 202 Interchange and Widening in King of Prussia, Pennsylvania, accepted by PENNDOT Secretary, Allen Biehler
  • Regional Elected Official of the Year, New Jersey
    The Honorable Jeffrey L. Nash
  • Regional Elected Official of the Year, Pennsylvania
    The Honorable William F. Keller
  • Regional Leader of the Year, New Jersey Susan Bass Levin,
    Commissioner of New Jersey's Department of Community Affairs
  • Regional Leader of the Year, Pennsylvania Michael O'Neill,
    Chairman, Preferred Real Estate Investments, Inc.
  • Regional Project of the Year National Constitution Center Phillip Castellano,
    Vice President of Visitor's Services, accepting.
  • Special Recognition Award for Regionalism Colin A. Hanna,
    Chester County Commissioner.
  • Special Recognition Partnership Award Peter Quinn,
    Executive Director of the Greater Valley Forge Transportation Management Association.

DVRPC Board Treasurer and Bucks County Commissioner Charles Martin served as emcee for the evening's events. Assisting Mr. Martin in presenting the awards were: Lewis F. Gould, Jr. of Duane, Morris and Hecksher, LLP and Montgomery County's DVRPC Board Representative; Allen D. Biehler, Secretary, Pennsylvania Department of Transportation, and DVRPC Board Vice Chairman; Jerald Cureton, DVRPC Secretary of the Board and representative of Burlington County; Joanne Denworth, Pennsylvania Governor's Policy Office; and John J. Coscia, DVRPC Executive Director.
