> Community Impact Assessment Pilot Project

In both Pennsylvania and New Jersey, the primary responsibility for land use planning and development decisions rests at the municipal level. As a regional organization, DVRPC is available to facilitate or undertake the preparation of multi-municipal plans, particularly in areas or corridors of new transportation investments. We have assisted the townships and boroughs of our older suburbs to prepare coordinated economic development and revitalization plans for multi-municipal corridors. DVRPC has also worked with local community development corporations and neighborhood associations to prepare comprehensive neighborhood plans.

Corridor Studies - New transportation infrastructure or improvements will have an impact on the land use patterns in an area. By considering local conditions in advance, developing a vision and plan and taking steps to manage future growth, groups of communities along a corridor have been able to work together with DVRPC to establish comprehensive corridor plans.

Area Economic Development - DVRPC has worked with many older suburban townships and boroughs to help facilitate area or corridor redevelopment plans that identify opportunities for revitalization, including broad regional strategies, inter-municipal cooperation and coalition building, and local initiatives.

Community Development Plans - While we view the nine-county region as a whole and generally do not work below a multi-municipal or corridor scale, DVRPC does occasionally work with an individual municipality or community to develop a local plan.
