Regional Planning
Regional Planning DivisionThe Regional Planning Division of DVRPC addresses a broad range of issues that affect the Delaware Valley, working toward solutions at the local, county and regional scale. Program areas include long-range planning, land use and community development, environmental planning, and housing and economic development. Regional Planning projects and programs are funded through a variety of sources, including municipal, county, state and federal contracts, foundation support, and through the regular DVRPC annual Work Program. All work is overseen and directed by the DVRPC Board. Long Range PlanningDVRPC's long-range land use and transportation plan provides a vision of the region's future and serves as the blueprint for future transportation facilities and services. A regional land use and open space plan identifies appropriate areas for future growth and infrastructure and an inter-connected system of natural resource areas targeted for protection. Forecasts of future population and employment inform the plan and Regional Indicators track progress toward its goals. Land Use & Community PlanningDVRPC works closely with our member governments, individual municipalities and local communities throughout the region to assist in local land use and community planning. Visit our toolbox of municipal planning techniques to learn about natural resource protection, business improvement districts, or residential infill development. Discover the multi-municipal or community plans for land use, economic development or transit-oriented development that DVRPC has underway. Environmental PlanningOur Open Space and Environmental Planning program maintains an inventory of protected lands, monitors locally-funded open space initiatives, conducts county and municipal natural resource inventories and open space plans, and develops multi-municipal greenway plans. Regional Plans & PolicyThe comprehensive nature of planning at DVRPC may be viewed here, with regional plans and policy reports that address issues of Welfare Reform and Job Access, Environmental Justice, Affordable Housing and Economic Development. Transportation & Community Development Initiative (TCDI)The TCDI program provides a means for selected municipalities to use designated funding to undertake planning, analysis or design initiatives for projects or programs that enhance redevelopment efforts and improve the efficiency of the regional transportation system. Examples of TCDI projects include transit-oriented development studies, commercial district revitalization, and streetscape designs. |
