Delaware Valley Regional Planning Commission
New at DVRPC - volume 2.1
"New at DVRPC" highlights some of the most recent additions to the DVRPC Website.
Poll the Region
In December, we asked "How should the Commonwealth of PA address the funding shortfall experienced by SEPTA and other transit agencies across the state?" 34% chose "Dedicate more of existing sales taxes for transit". Be sure to answer the Jan/Feb question about curtailing sprawl.
Project Implementation
A new application on the DVRPC website lets visitors check the status of federally funded non-traditional transportation projects in the Pennsylvania portion of our region.
Teacher's Guide to County Watersheds
The Delaware Valley Regional Planning Commission (DVRPC), with several partners, has published two resource guides for area teachers. These guides to the Watersheds of Camden and Gloucester Counties will introduce students to the natural and cultural resources of their county, helping to instill in them a sense of place and stewardship for their environment.
Updated Protected Open Space Inventory
DVRPC maintains an inventory of protected public and private open space in the Delaware Valley. The inventory tracks federal, state, county and municipally owned lands, preserved farmland and privately owned protected open spaces.
Locally Funded Open Space Programs
Over the last 16 years, efforts to buy up remaining open space as a means of protecting natural resources, providing for recreation and shaping local development have escalated among the counties and municipalities in the region. Currently, 7 of the 8 suburban counties and 89 of the 352 municipalities in the region have dedicated funds for open space preservation through bond referendums and special taxes.
