Three
ways to offer TransitChek Employers
can offer TransitChek in a variety of ways:
Through employee-paid pre-tax payroll deduction. Employees
buy vouchers through pre-tax payroll dollars, allowing
them to protect up to $230 a month from federal income
and FICA taxes. Employers save on the matching FICA
taxes. This is the most popular way to offer
TransitChek because both employers and employees see
significant tax savings and the program pays for itself! Also,
unlike flexible spending accounts, there's no use-it-or-lose-it
penalty.
As an employer-paid benefit. Employers
provide TransitCheks as part of their benefits package.
This is great option if you have a problem with employee
parking and need an incentive to get commuters out
of their cars. The entire cost of the program is tax-deductible.
Share the fare. The employer gives
a portion of TransitChek as a benefit, and employees
pay the balance with pre-tax payroll deductions. It's
the best of both worlds.
Flexible
and customizable
Employers can tailor the TransitChek program to fit their
needs.
Make all seven TransitChek voucher denominations
available to your employees, or streamline the program
by offering a selection of denominations appropriate
to your employees' commutes.
If offering TransitChek through pre-tax payroll
deductions, select how often payroll deductions will
be taken and when changes to participation can be made.
