An
employer-offered benefit for commuters
Your employer decides how to offer TransitChek. Most companies offer TransitChek
through pre-tax payroll deductions, which allows employers and employees to enjoy
tax savings. TransitChek can also be offered as an employer-paid benefit. That
means your employer simply gives you TransitCheks in addition to your salary.
TransitCheks that are given as an employer-paid benefit are totally tax-free
up to the $115 monthly limit. Finally, employers can offer to share-the-fare.
Employers pay for part of the benefit, and employees pay for the rest-up to $120
per month-through pre-tax payroll deductions.
How
it works
When your employer participates in TransitChek, they
distribute TransitChek vouchers to eligible employees.
TransitCheks are issued in $15, $20, $21, $30, $35,
$60 and $65 denominations. Commuters can redeem TransitChek
vouchers for travel on all regional transit providers.
See Using
TransitChek vouchers for more information.
