Buy Fresh Buy Local Campaign of Southeastern Pennsylvania

Searchable database of all farms, farmers markets, agritourism and other direct marketing opportunities in Southeastern Pennsylvania. It also allows consumers to connect with each other to share recipes, resources and even carpool to local food destinations.

Jersey Fresh and Visit N.J. Farms

New Jersey State websites providing online searches of roadside markets, pick-your-own and community farmers markets, along with recipes and tips for choosing fresh produce. The website also shows events and allows searches by activity or location to visit some of New Jersey's farms.

Fair Food Farmstand

Fair Food is a Philadelphia-based non-profit that connects farmers to both retail and wholesale buyers. One of their programs is the Fair Food Farmstand, an all-local retail outlet at Reading Terminal Market. The farmstand offers fresh fruits, vegetables, meats, cheese, dairy, prepared foods and value-added products.

Farm to City

Farm to City is a small business that operates farmers markets throughout the Philadelphia region, including Havertown and Swarthmore. The Winter Harvest buying club offers local fare through the harder times of the year to find it. The website also offers shares or membership to many Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) programs.

The Food Trust

The Food Trust works to ensure that "everyone has access to affordable, nutritious food" through farmers markets, school nutrition, supermarket and food retail development and advocacy. They operate over 30 farmers markets throughout the region, including the Headhouse Farmers Market at 2nd and Lombard streets.

Local Food Philly

Local Food Philly, maintained by Fair Food, is an online guide to direct retail and wholesale opportunities for local food in and outside of Philadelphia and offers an email list for the "Local Food Loop."

Local Harvest

Searchable national database of farms, Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) programs, farmers markets, restaurants, online shops, and food cooperatives. Users can search by product or location.

NOFA-NJ

The website for the Northeast Organic Farming Association (NOFA)-New Jersey Chapter provides information on food and farming events throughout the state, including Victory Garden Workshops. They also have a Find a Farmer feature connecting people to great local food in the Garden State.

PA Preferred

Marketing program through the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture that identifies and promotes Pennsylvania-based food businesses and products. The DA offers a searchable database, access to recipes, fun facts and information on upcoming events.

Pennsylvania Association for Sustainable Agriculture

The website provides space for farm and agriculture classifieds and opportunities. The Southeastern PA office also facilitates local workshops on topics like victory gardening, dying wool, cheese-making and expanding a farm business.

Pennsylvania Horticultural Society

The Pennsylvania Horticultural Society maintains a searchable map of community gardens in the City of Philadelphia for people to find a garden in their neighborhood, and sign up for a plot.

SHARE Food Program

The Self-Help and Resource Exchange (SHARE) program offers an alternative way to get affordable healthy food. In exchange for two hours of "doing good in the community," SHARE members can buy monthly grocery baskets that are a great value. SHARE partners with local community organizations who serve as "pick up sites" for the packages.

Slow Food Philadelphia Chapter

Slow Food is an international organization working towards "good, clean and farm" food through educational events. Slow Food Philly organizes dinners, tastings, tours, lectures and other events where members can meet each other and explore the food traditions of the region. They also provide lists of recommended restaurants, bars, retail stores and lodging options that represent the values of Slow Food.
